How to sign in to your web browser to share data between your devices

Your browsing data, like your bookmarks, history, passwords, and other settings, can be saved and synced to an account. That way, your data is available on any device where you sign into a web browser with that same account.  Any changes you make to your data on one device sync to all other devices where you are signed in.

This is very useful if you get a new device; you can get back your bookmarks, history, passwords, and other settings by simply signing into the web browser again.

We recommend using your personal Google Account and not an RIT account.

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. In the top right, click the button with your name or People iconImage Removed icon.
  3. Click Sign in to Chrome.
  4. Sign in with your Google Account.
  5. To customize your sync settings, click More More iconImage Removedand thenImage RemovedSettingsand thenImage RemovedAdvanced sync settings. You can choose what information to share across other devices where you are signed in to Chrome.

Disable YouTube Autoplay

By default, YouTube will play another video automatically five seconds after you finish one.  This can be an annoyance if you show a clip in class and begin discussing it, only to be interrupted by a new video.

To disable, open any video, then:

  1. Click the gear icon at the bottom right of the video player
  2. Toggle the Autoplay button to off
