Podiums

Traditional Classroom Podiums

To turn the projector on/off use the display ON/OFF buttons.

Please note, when turning the projector on using the 'ON' button it can take up to a minute for the projector to warm up and turn on.

Auto Image -This buttons helps in calibrating an image on the projector (size, position, etc.). This button can help in centering an image.

Closed Caption ON/OFF - This button will turn the captioning on or off

Black Screen - This button will display a black screen on the projector (This can be used when, for example, you don't want what you're doing on your laptop to be displayed to the projector).

1. Laptop - This button allows you to use your laptop as the input for the projector (you will need to plug the VGA cable into your laptop).

2. DVD - This buttons uses the DVD player as the input for the projector.

3. VCR - This buttons uses the VCR as the input for the projector (there is a DVD and VCR control panel to the right of the VCR and DVD buttons)

4. DOC CAM - This button allows a document camera to be used as the input for the projector.

5. AUX Video - This buttons allows you to use an external video source as the input for the projector.

6. PC - This button allows you to use the PC at the podium as the input for the projector (Note: not all classrooms have a PC at the podium).


When not in use please be sure to turn off the Extron system.

LOW-1135 Instructions

  1. Turn on the system by pressing the power button.
  2. Select one of two modes:

Presentation Mode:


5 options will become available:

  1. VGA - Connect the VGA cable and corresponding 3.5mm audio jack to your laptop. This will display the contents of a laptop on the projector screens.
  2. HDMI - Connect the HDMI cable. This will display the contents of a laptop on the projector screens.
  3. Blu-Ray - Used for watching movies.
  4. Doc Cam - For reference the document camera is located directly above the podium. This gives a birds-eye view of the podium and has options for zoom, focus and brightness (iris). There is also a freeze option that will pause the camera indefinitely.
  5. PC - This allows for the end-user to take control of the computer in the podium. This is where the microphone and camera for potential Zoom meetings would have to be used.

On the left hand side there is a column labeled "Display"

  • This controls the projector which can be turned on or off.
  • There is a "Blank Screen" option that will disable the projector while the PC is still able to be used.

How to use the room camera:

  1. Select PC mode.
  2. Hit camera control located towards the bottom left corner.
  3. Sign into the computer and open the application of your choosing (i.e. Zoom, Camera, etc.)
  4. The controls on the Extron system will then allow you to rotate and zoom as well as focus the camera.

Screen Control:

  • Gives the ability to control the physical projector screens.
    • Ex: Could pull up the projector screen on the left while leaving the one on the right down.

Tap the Room Mode button at the bottom of the screen to switch between modes.

Individual Mode:

  • Note: This mode has a very similar set up to the presentation mode.
  • The difference between the two modes is that this mode allows for a unique display on either projector screen.
    • Ex: Display 1 could be set to use HDMI on a laptop while display 2 uses the document camera to display a sheet of paper on the podium.


When not in use please be sure to turn off the Extron system.

LOW-1215 Instructions

Turn on the system by pressing the power button.

  • Note: The three smaller screens located on the podium are smaller versions of the 3 larger displays on the wall.

Select one of two modes:

Presentation Mode:
Once all of the computers have powered on you'll notice several options available on each of the smaller displays.

  • Option 1: Laptop HDMI
    • Be sure the HDMI cable is fully inserted into the laptop.
    • Once connected, the video and audio from the laptop will be broadcast onto the large display on the wall.
  • Option 2: Document Camera
    • Above the podium there is a camera in the ceiling pointing downwards. Place any necessary documents underneath the camera and they'll be displayed on the large display.
    • On the smaller display you'll notice several options available:
      • Auto focus, focus near/far, back light, iris open/close, zoom in/out.
  • Option 3: Room PC Conferencing
    • This option allows you to use the computer located in the podium.
    • Once signed in all 3 screens will display the desktop.
  • Option 4: ShareLink
    • See documentation below.
  • Option 5: Blank
    • This option will disable the larger displays on the wall.
    • The smaller displays on the podium will still project their images.

There is a button for adjusting the volume.

  • Note: All mics are muted by default, be sure to unmute the desired mic before proceeding.
  • The first mic is the podium mic and once unmuted options will appear to increase/decrease the volume.
  • The next available mic is the wireless mic:
    • There should be a bag near the podium with a microphone labeled "Shure" which will need to be flipped on.
    • Be sure to turn the microphone back off when not in use.

To change modes tap the change modes button at the bottom right corner of the main menu.

Conference Mode:

  • This mode will bring up two screens: Camera 1 and Camera 2.
  • This mode will also enable Room PC Conferencing by default.
  • Camera 1 is located in the back left corner of the room (relative to the podium) and gives a view of the podium and the front of the class.
  • Camera 2 is located just above the podium and faces towards the seats in the classroom.


Be sure to power off the Extron system when not in use.

Sklarsky Center for Business Analytics (BAL)

  1. Turn on the system by pressing the power button.
  2. Select one of two modes:

Collaboration Mode:

  • Allows everyone to work in a group.
  • Can breakout into separate table groups.
  • Allows instructor to blank image screens.
    • This button will display a black screen on the projector (This can be used when, for example, you don't want what you're doing on your laptop to be displayed to the projector).
  • Instructor can give ticker mode and collaboration mode at each table.
  • Instructor has control over volume at each table.
  • Instructor can broadcast to all tables.

Change Mode button will allow the instructor to switch between Collaboration and Instructor.

Instructor Mode:
This mode enables the projector.

  1. Select how you would like to connect:
    1. Either via VGA or HDMI.
    2. Note that when connecting via VGA in order for sound to play the 3.5mm jack must also be inserted into the laptop.
  2. Volume
    1. Allows the instructor to increase and decrease the volume as well as mute the sound entirely.


Be sure to power off the Extron system when not in use.

Global Business Solutions Lab (BCL)

Turn on the Extron system located on the wall next to the podium.

  • You will notice the options for input sources (PC, Laptop VGA or Laptop HDMI).
    • Select either Laptop VGA/HDMI if using a laptop and would like for it to be displayed on the projector.
      • Note: If using Laptop VGA, be sure to plug in the 3.5mm jack or else audio will not work.
    • IF SCREEN IS BLANK:
      • Tap Settings > Display > Make sure Display 1 is on (highlighted with a yellow background) and Blank Image is turned off (not highlighted in yellow).
    • By default the audio will be muted.
      • On the main menu towards the left of the Select a Source section, there will be two buttons, one to increase volume and one to decrease with another button beneath that will mute/unmute the audio.
    • To control the volume:
      • Select settings > audio
        • From here the volume can be controlled or muted.
        • Note: The volume can also be controlled from the laptop.

In order for the instructor to share the screen of the desktop within the podium, select PC as a the input source.

Be sure to power off the Extron system when not in use. The power button is located on the main menu page (Select a Source) towards the bottom left of the screen.

Launch ShareLink by either searching for the ShareLink desktop application or opening a browser and entering the IP address found on the projector screen.

If launching from a browser:

  1. After selecting your operating system (either Windows or macOS) you will be prompted to save an executable. Hit Save File then open the File Explorer and navigate to the downloads folder.
    1. The program will be named something along the lines of SL_Lite_vVersionNumber_IPAddress.exe
  2. Once the program is launched you will be prompted for a pass code, the pass code will be located on the lower right corner of the projector screen.

If launching from the desktop app:

  1. From a lab PC search for the ShareLink app.
  2. Once the app is launched enter the name of the host into the search bar at the bottom then press connect.
    1. Ex: scb-dv-5
  3. A prompt for a pass code will appear, the pass code will be located on the lower right corner of the projector screen.

Once the pass code is entered several options will become available:

  1. The ShareLink app interface will automatically minimize into a bar which can be moved by clicking and dragging.
  2. To start mirroring a given display select the white play button. This will broadcast that computers screen to every display in the lab.
    1. From here you can pause or stop sharing entirely.
  • Other options available:
    • Expand Device List
      • This will expand the bar back to full length.
    • Grid View
      • This allows you to have multiple screen shares displayed simultaneously.
      • Clicking the button gives you the ability to choose where on the screen you would like your main display to be located.
        • Note: If no option is selected, the main display will take up the entire screen.
    • Volume
      • Can mute or unmute the audio.
    • Stream Video
      • Allows you to stream video to all of the displays.
