Week 11

Assignee / Action Item / DescriptionDate Assigned:Complete By:Completion Date:Comments:Resolution
  • Everyone: Put your OpenRocket model in your respective chat, along with a quick synopsis of what was good/bad from the PDR.
10/25/202010/31/2020

  • Modeling/Simulation: Take in everyone's OpenRocket models and begin working on combining them into one cohesive design that uses the best of everyone's.
10/25/202010/31/2020

  • Avionics: Read through all the links posted above to get familiar with our COTS avionics systems.

  • Website/Media Designer: Message Joy Sangsrichan over slack and ask her about getting access to the website.
10/25/202010/31/2020

  • Presentation Designer: Nothing this week!
10/25/202010/31/2020

  • BOM Maker: Create a BOM spreadsheet and add the body tubes to it. (you need cost, number of items, name, and link for each item)
10/25/202010/31/2020

  • Numbers Person: Read through this link to learn about Thrust to Weight Ratios.

Week 12
Assignee / Action Item / DescriptionDate Assigned:Complete By:Completion Date:Comments:Resolution

Everyone:

  • Sign in to the wiki using your RIT email.
11/3/202011/7/2020

Modeling/Simulation:

  • Produce a finalized OpenRocket model, submit to James ASAP, goal is to have model reviewed and finalized by Saturday.
11/3/202011/7/2020

Avionics:

  • Decide whether or not doing the collaborative board with the Avionics team is worth pursuing (highly recommend it!)
11/3/202011/7/2020

CAD Designer:

  • 1. Design the body tube in this link.
  • 2. Design 1/4" bulkheads.
  • 3. Design coupler tubes from this link.
11/3/202011/7/2020

Website/Media Designer:

  • Add current team member list to website page.
11/3/202011/7/2020

Presentation Designer:

  • Create skeleton CDR slides (literally just copying PDR over and renaming to CDR will work for now)
11/3/202011/7/2020

BOM Maker:

  • Add 1 roll of Hatchbox PLA 3d printer filament to BOM (look up on amazon). Specify amount to be 0.5kg, so total cost will be half the cost of one roll.
11/3/202011/7/2020

Numbers Person:

  • Read through this link to understand calculations for parachutes.
11/3/202011/7/2020

Week 13
Assignee / Action Item / DescriptionDate Assigned:Complete By:Completion Date:Comments:Resolution

Everyone:

  • Figure out what part of the rocket you'll present for the CDR.
11/7/202011/14/2020

Modeling/Simulation:

  • Run motor simulation for final OpenRocket model(after parachute calculation is made and parachutes are updated), and put in CDR
11/7/202011/14/2020

Avionics:

  • Generate slides for the COTS avionics system
  • Overview of COTS avionics w/ James
  • (If pursuing) decide what the custom avionics board should be capable of.
11/7/202011/14/2020

CAD Designer:

  • Create entire CAD model for rocket, driven by OpenRocket model
11/7/202011/14/2020

Website/Media Designer:

  • Add team mission to website
11/7/202011/14/2020

Presentation Designer:

  • Create blank CDR slides for Thrust to Weight Ratio, OpenRocket Model, Fin Flutter calculations, CAD model, Parachute calculations, and anything else not listed that was in the PDR
11/7/202011/14/2020

BOM Maker:

  • Add parachute given by Numbers Person to BOM
  • Add coupler tubes to BOM
  • Add rocket motor to BOM
11/7/202011/14/2020

Numbers Person:

  • Calculate Thrust to Weight ratio for the rocket and add to the CDR
  • Calculate ideal parachute diameters, use this number to drive our parachute choice (from this website), and add all that info to the CDR
  • Give parachute choice to BOM Maker to add
