Computer Audio - Selecting Speakers

Selecting the audio output

Sometimes our laptops select the wrong audio output.  Here's how to change the output as needed.

Click on your speaker icon in the system tray near the time.



Click the ^ in the upper right to expand the menu.



Select the desired output


Click on your speaker icon in the system tray near the time.



Click the > symbol next to the speaker volume



Select the desired output


Audio Source Not Detecting

While this is very rare, it is possible to deny Windows 11 to connect to a particular audio source.  Here's how to check those settings.

Search for Settings in the Start menu

Select Sound from the list

Scroll down and select All sound devices

Select the device that is not listed on the speaker icon.  In this example, we'll use Extron HDMI.

Click Allow to set Windows so that it can use the device.  If you see Don't allow, then the device is authorized.
