Winner:

3) Bootloader Jig

Options:

  1. Take the uC off of an existing Arduino Pro Micro

    1. Pros

      1. Easy

    2. Cons

      1. Expensive and Wasteful

        1. Basically scrapping the rest of the Arduino

  2. Add ISP pins to VEGA for uploading the Bootloader / Sketches

    1. Pros

      1. Adds configurability for later on

    2. Cons

      1. Relatively large to have 6 pins added (relative to the board size)

      2. Additional routing complexity

        1. Not ideal pins required

  3. Make a jig to burn the bootloader onto blank uCs.

    1. Pros

      1. Not too difficult

      2. Reusable

      3. More generic

    2. Cons

      1. Requires another board

        1. Should be soldered protoboard, not custom PCB

      2. Additional solder cycle for uC

      3. Jig could fail over time

        1. Solder pads

        2. May not be too big of an issue considering the low count being made
