Python version: 3.5.10
VSCode (Recommended): https://code.visualstudio.com/download
Windows
- Download the latest version of Python3 from https://www.python.org/downloads/
- Click Install Now, check both boxes (Install launcher and Add Python to PATH)
- Download VSCode for Windows from https://code.visualstudio.com/download
MacOS/Linux
- Python3 and pip may have already be installed, you can check this by opening up your terminal and typing in python3 --version and pip3 --version
- depending on your package manager your OS uses, do
- MacOS: brew install python
- Ubuntu: sudo apt-get install python
- Fedora: sudo dnf install python
Writing your first Python program in VSCode
- Extension (Left side) > Install the Python Extension
- Create a new file called "hello-world.py" and add the following code. If a pop-up shows up about selecting an interpreter, there should be an option for Python3. If you get a message that Linter pylint is not installed, install that too.
- Click the top-right green button to run. And now, you have successfully written your first Python code!
