DRI Descriptions

Universal Responsibilities

  • Tag-up with IREC lead (@Alex Speyer (RIT Student)) once a week with subteam updates - fill out spot on wiki (call or meeting if needed)

  • Assign design and manufacturing tasks to specific members

  • Lead in writing procedures and technical documentation

  • Relay required purchases to appropriate lead(s) - Structures and Recovery to IREC, Avionics and Payload to Avionics

Structures:

  • If only here in Spring, stay in contact with analysis DRI and IREC lead to get updates and help when possible

  • create schedule for spring manufacturing

  • ensure structures team is on schedule early in the process

Avionics

  • Keep off-site Avionics lead (@Yevgeniy Gorbachev (RIT Student) in Fall, @Ben Hyman (RIT Student) in Spring) updated

  • Manage mechanical design, implementation of COTS recovery electronics, flight computer design

  • Submit avionics NYSG (tentative)

Payload

  • Submit payload NYSG in Fall

  • Manage mechanical design, integration, [To be finished when the payload is chosen]

Recovery:

  • Specify recovery hardware and parachutes

  • Finalize snatch force, descent rate, drift, and charge quantity calculations

Analysis:

  • Manage trajectory simulation, structural analysis, CFD

  • Lead in interpreting data and factors of safety

  • work with the LAB on physical testing
