Altium License Renewal

@Ben Hyman (RIT Student)

Will be reaching out this week about it

Components Selection Training

@Jim Heaney (RIT Student)

Running training after next general?

Backplane

  • Radio

  • Power

  • Backplane

  • Sensor

  • Autopilot

@backplane owners

  • @Dante Sivo (RIT Student)

  • @James May (RIT Student)

  • @Billy Siegener (RIT Student) (Deactivated)

  • @Louis Fleisher (RIT Student) @Mary Dertinger (RIT Student)

  • @Ben Hyman (RIT Student)

  • Radio

    • Basic block diagram needs to be checked

    • APRS?

  • Power

    • Block diagram finished needs to be checked

      • Add 7.4V to backplane

      • Add Wiznet chip

      • Add umbilical

      • might switch to two buck/LDO pairs based on current/voltage of other modules

      • Add 2nd battery input w/ some sort of switching capability

      • Add test port (SWD over JTAG connector)

      • Add status LEDs

    • need max current and off which voltage rails from other mods

    • Switcher w/ integrated inductors justification:

      • Lower EMI (usually meet some standard)

      • Simplifies component selection/design (1 IC vs 1 IC & a bunch of passives)

      • Relatively small cost add compared to design simplification

      • No/little to no need to add shielding to module

  • Backplane

    • Block diagram is finished needs to be checked

    • Might not need magnetics cuz if having all the mods sharing ground it doesn't do anything. But no reason not to have them if have the space?

  • Sensor

    •  Block diagram finished needs to be checked

  • Autopilot

    • finish block diagram

      • currently need beefy micro controller

        • STMF4 at least cuz f0 is not powerful enough for good state estimation

  • Other

    • Arming will be easy access somewhere on rocket tbd later

    • not micro sd for storage

    • Whoever picks a micro controller first selects it

      • STM32 is preferred - makes software easier

Action items

Radio @Dante Sivo (RIT Student)

Add serial debug and programming port to Radio mod
Need to send max current and off which voltage rails to power
Add stat lights
Add storage
Look into STM radio dev
Diagram flow @Will Merges (RIT Student)
