Autopilot Module

Updates:

  • Changed from Wago terminals to standard screw terminals for charge lines
  • Reduced from 4 to 2 charge lines
  • Did basic layout of charge lines
  • Fixed address lines to go to inputs on Vocore
  • Schematic is 90% complete
  • Posted GPIO default state question to Vocore forum

TODOs:

  • Schematic
    • Finish rest of backplane connector (GPIOs and LEDs)
    • Clean up schematic
    • Run ERC and make sure there are no design breaking errors
  • Layout
    • Placement of all components (really just one more charge line which is copying the one i've already done)
    • Route all signal traces
    • Route power traces/pours
    • Run DRC and make sure there are no design breaking errors

Connector spec

Idea 1: "Horned connectors" going sideways

  • Positively locking
  • Board-edge would look very neat
  • Board-edge would take up too much space - we have  130mm width, 60mm per board is not enough margin

Idea 2: Back to proper backplane

  • Vertical connectors on modules pass through slots in the sled, connect to the backplane
  • Sandwich the plastic sled by the PCBs
  • Screwing everything to a common sled is positively locking
  • Less wires means less integration hassle
    • Maintain ability to use cables
  • Need to specify connector offset on each module
  • Radio module needs to send SMA connectors through the  sled or out the short edge
  • Need to carefully solder connectors so they're not canted
    • Use a fixture?
