Umbilical

  • XT-30s are not allowed (see below from DTEG)
    • Ferrule terminated wires into screw terminals is within recommended guidelines
  • 12V is out of the voltage range of the RRC3s per the users guide
  • There is mention of a voltage regulator - where would this live?
  • RE: brownout question from chat - It is the choice of diodes, not the choice of voltage regulators (which we do not choose anyways), that will impact the risk of brownout. What needs to be verified is that the switching time of the diodes is less than the brownout time of the flight computers given the total capacitance on the rail and the current draw of the boards. These calculations can be done by hand but it would be better to have a SPICE simulation for reference.

Action Items Jim Heaney (RIT Student)

  • Determine a 10V external source for the umbilical
  • Add reverse polarity protection to the output of the bypass board (RPP on inputs is intrinsic to 2 diode design)
  • SPICE simulation to determine risk of brownout (and to determine size of bypass capacitors if necessary)
  • Add renders of competition legal connectors
