  • The payload must be deployed from the rocket.
  • The payload must conform to the 3U cubesat form factor.
  • The payload must weigh at least 8.8lbs (4kg).
  • Only 20% of the payload mass can be non-functional.
  • The payload must be recoverable.
  • The payload must have redundant recovery systems.
  • The payload must land at less than 30 ft/s (9.1 m/s).
  • The payload's location must be real-time tracked by ESRA Mission Control Center (MCC).

Primary Objective Requirements

Not mission critical, but top level

  • example: The payload must deploy an antennathere is probably only one of these and it shouldn't change
will live stream video to the ground during flight.

Derived Requirements

Requirements derived from MC and PO requirements

...

  • drogue chute
    • passive deployment
  • one downward facing camera
  • local (non-streamed) camera upward/sideward (maybe)
    • no reason to not put as many we can fit/power
    • vertical would be cool (see the parachute)
      • less overlapping information that downward and upward
  • name idea: COTS in 4K
  • Tracking: BRB
  • we need to power the cameras
    • whole lotta 2S LiPos
    • 2x Flight computers
    • 2x Cameras (and transmitter)
  • we need a video transmitter
    • 5.8 GHz 1W
  • how do we get signal to the ground
    • directional antenna somewhere
    • cool modulation - spreading sequence, something else

Secondary Objective Requirement(s)

driven, optional, fun

  • the payload must speak in jims voice
  • Small streamer for visibility
