RL-36 shall be designed around feed system components that are already in Launch Initiative's possession.
RL-36 shall be in the thrust range of a medium-size spacecraft's reaction control system (10-500 lbf, according to Rocket Propulsion Elements) and shall be below the impulse threshold of NAR high-power rocket engines.
RL-36 shall be designed such that thrust and combustion chamber pressure can be measured using off-the-shelf instruments.
RL-36 shall have a redundant shut-off system.
RL-36 shall have a ground station for remote test-firing and data acquisition.
