This guide will help you set up your RIT Exchange account on the Outlook app on Android and iOS mobile devices.
Note
This guide does not apply for student RIT Gmail accounts.
Android Devices
- Download the Outlook app from the Google Play Store. You can also search "Outlook" in the store on your phone.
- Upon opening the app for the first time, you will be prompted to add an e-mail account.
- Select the Add account button under settings.
- When prompted to select an account type, select Email account.
- Enter your RIT email address (e.g. jdoe@saunders.rit.edu or abcbbu@rit.edu; either works), and tap Continue.
- For the server, enter mymail.ad.rit.edu.
- For Domain\Username enter: MAIN\username where "username" is your RIT username (e.g. abcbbu). See below for a screenshot example.
Note: You must use a back-slash, not a forward-slash, or it will not work. To find the backslash on an Android keyboard, you must go to the second page of the symbol keyboard. To get to the second page of the symbol keyboard, press the "!#1" key at the bottom left, then press the "1/2" key at the near bottom left above the "ABC" key. - For password, enter your RIT password.
- Optionally, add a description if you plan to use Outlook for multiple accounts, such as a personal e-mail.
- Tap the check mark in the top-right corner.
- Your RIT email account will now be set up. Please note that it may take a few minutes for your email and calendar to populate.
iOS Devices
- Download the Outlook app from the App Store.
- Once downloaded, open the app. You will see a screen that says "Add Account" like the image below:
Note: you may see a page that says "Account Found", tap Skip if this appears. - When prompted for an email address, enter your Saunders email address (e.g. jdoe@saunders.rit.edu or abcbbu@rit.edu; either works).
- On the Exchange page, enter your RIT password. Optionally, add a description if you plan to use Outlook for multiple accounts, such as a personal e-mail.
- Tap on Use Advanced Settings, and make these changes:
- Make sure mymail.ad.rit.edu is listed as the Server.
- For domain, enter MAIN.
- For username, enter your RIT username (e.g. abcbbu). This field may be already populated by your e-mail, but that will not work.
- Tap on Sign In.
- If successful, you will initially see a page asking you if you want to add another account. Tap Maybe Later.
- Your RIT email account should now be set up. Please note that it may take a few minutes for your email and calendar to populate.
