RS-41 Head crab (Working Title)
This is a placeholder page for my idea to make a itty bitty logging computer that will attach onto the RS-41’s XDATA port. The concept is that the RS-41 can send power and raw GPS packets to both the radio and one of the pins on the XDATA port over UART. This allows for external computers to take in the GPS data, and do whatever they want with it. My idea is to use a mini Arduino chip with a built in Accelerometer and a SD card breakout board, and create a little jig that mounts them all to the XDATA port. This could also be expanded with other breakout sensors over I2C, and create simple logging for all sorts of data. This will enable the logging of flight data using only a RS-41, perfect for L1/L2 test flights or backup data for more advanced flights.
This project is currently in the planning stages, being worked on by @Dean O'Brien (RIT Student) . If you have any questions or ideas for this, feel free to DM me on Slack.
