Notes on 3D Printing

Support material:

• Supported or overhanging surfaces tend to lose a lot of fine detail, and small locating elements may become unusable if printed with support.
• Removing support is somewhat annoying, especially if the support is located in a place that is difficult to access due to surrounding geometry.
• Think about what residual support material will do to functional surfaces.

Uncategorized:

• Check clearances between screw head and surface mounted components. PCB holes in COTS components may be designed for screw diameters that have heads that are too wide for safe mounting.
• For Matt's sake, do not ask to metal print a box.
