SPICA Test Flight - Launch Day Checkouts

Attach SPICA, batteries, and antennas to the avionics sled.

  • All hardware is firmly attached to the sled


Connect SPICA to logical power, leave charge power disconnected.

  • SPICA in a stationary position under no acceleration
  • SPICA connected to logical power
  • SPICA buzzer activated for approximately half a second


Connect the receiver board to power.

  • Receiver board LEDs are flashing


 Verify network connection between receiver and ground station.

  • Ethernet cable connected to ground station and receiver
  • Receiver responds to pings from the ground station


Verify ground station receiving packets from the receiver.

  • Ground station shared memory is being updated with new packets
  • Uptime measurement is increasing at an approximately expected rate


Verify packets are being logged by the ground station.

  • Ground station has created and partially populated system and telemetry log files


Insert the sled into the rocket.

  • Verify sled is firmly seated in the avionics bay


Verify GPS lock is acquired.

  • Ground station can view multiple satellites in GPS satellite count measurement
  • Received latitude and longitude are updating and are approximately correct
