Improve the speed of your iPhone/iPad

If you notice decreased speed/performance of your iOS device (iPhone/iPad), first try turning the device off and turn it back on after 30 seconds. If you still notice sluggish performance, try some of these tips:
  • Delete any applications that you are not using.
    • iOS has a built-in feature called "Offload unused apps", which allows you to remove the app but keep its data, freeing up your device's storage capacity.
    • To do this, open the Settings app. In the Settings app, navigate to iTunes & App Store, and enable "Offload unused apps"
  • Turn off notifications from applications that you do not need notifications from.
    • Navigate to Settings > Notifications and tap on the app you would like to change notification settings.
  • Disable background app refresh on apps that aren't critical (critical apps would be mail & calendar apps, any kind of messaging apps, banking apps, etc.)
    • Navigate to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and toggle off Background App Refresh on the desired apps.
  • Disable animations for snappier performance.
    • Navigate to Settings > General > Accessibility, and enable "Reduce Motion".
  • Disable location services on apps that do not require it in the background.
    • Navigate to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, and tap on an app. Select "Never" for any applications that you believe does not need to know your location. Any application that has "While Using" as an option, you can alternatively select that.
  • Backup of photos and videos on your laptop or desktop, or use a cloud service such as iCloud or Google Photos.
